Ashgabat, October 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: On October 7, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an official meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman, who arrived in Ashgabat heading a high-level delegation.
During the talks, the two ministers reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of Turkmen–Croatian relations across a wide range of areas, including political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
Both sides emphasized that contacts at the highest and high levels play a decisive role in advancing interstate relations and strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries.
The ministers devoted special attention to constructive cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Minister Radman reaffirmed Croatia’s consistent support for Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality status and its initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development regionally and globally.
The meeting underscored trade and economic cooperation as a key pillar of the bilateral partnership. The parties exchanged views on potential collaboration in shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, construction, textile industries, high technologies, and tourism, among other fields. In this regard, they highlighted the importance of the Turkmen–Croatian Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in facilitating practical engagement.
Discussions also covered ways to expand the legal framework governing bilateral relations and deepen cooperation in education, science, and healthcare. The ministers noted the significance of enhancing cultural and humanitarian exchanges, recognizing them as vital components of long-term friendship and understanding between the peoples of Turkmenistan and Croatia.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia for 2026–2027, marking a new stage in the institutionalization of bilateral dialogue.
On the same day, an Ashgabat Business Forum was held with the participation of representatives from the business communities of both countries, providing a platform to explore new avenues for investment, trade, and joint ventures in priority sectors.
