Azerbaijan and Türkiye Reaffirm Strong Healthcare Cooperation in High-Level Meeting

Baku, December 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, held a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgün, during which both sides reaffirmed the strength of bilateral ties and the expanding cooperation in the field of healthcare.

Minister Musayev emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye are built on deep historical foundations, noting that the partnership—rooted in trust, mutual respect, friendship, and brotherhood—has reached its highest level. He highlighted that official cooperation between the health institutions of both nations was established in the early years of modern Azerbaijan’s independence, and has since become exemplary across various medical and scientific fields.

Referring to the participation of a large Azerbaijani delegation in the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress in Ankara, Musayev said the event provided an invaluable platform for the exchange of experience and for identifying future joint priorities. He added that the digitalization of Azerbaijan’s healthcare system remains a top priority for the Ministry of Health, stressing the importance of training medical professionals capable of mastering artificial intelligence and digital technologies.

The minister expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries in scientific, medical, and other sectors would continue to expand successfully.

Ambassador Birol Akgün reiterated that the strong and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye reflect the unity and solidarity of the two nations. He underscored the crucial role of both countries’ leaders in advancing bilateral ties and highlighted the significance of the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress in strengthening collaboration between the healthcare systems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.

Akgün noted that such international events not only foster closer cooperation but also make important contributions to the development of global medicine.
