Tashkent, November 22, 2023, The Europe Today: Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan Shadurdy Meredov.
The parties discussed a wide range of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan related to their common history, traditions, and values, including the current state and prospects of trade, economic, social, cultural, humanitarian, and inter-parliamentary relations.
Considering the importance of the role of parliamentary diplomacy in interstate relations, primary attention was paid to the issues of further developing interparliamentary cooperation.
In particular, views were exchanged on facilitating the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries at all levels within the framework of parliamentary control, the exchange of experience between committees in lawmaking, and the establishment of dialogue among young parliamentarians.
Particular attention was paid to the active cooperation on gender equality issues and developing tourism destinations between the two countries.
