Tashkent, February 20, 2024, The Europe Today: On February 19, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took a comprehensive look at proposals aimed at fostering economic growth and supporting enterprises operating at partial capacity in various regions of Uzbekistan. The presentation showcased initiatives to capitalize on untapped opportunities, address challenges, and enhance the economic landscape in alignment with the President’s directives.
Following instructions from a meeting held in January to assess macroeconomic stability, the presented proposals delved into the nuances of regional dynamics, entrepreneurs’ concerns, and potential areas for development.
One notable proposal hails from the Kashkadarya region, where the installation of additional pumps and chutes along the Mirishkor canal could unlock the development of 600 hectares of land in Karshi district. This strategic move could facilitate the cultivation of castor beans and establish oil production, thereby creating employment opportunities for 1.4 thousand people.
In recognizing the need for increased infrastructure capacity in certain industrial zones, a substantial allocation of 1.5 trillion UZS is planned for this year. This financial injection aims to enhance the appeal of these zones, expand enterprise activities, and contribute to a rise in job opportunities.
Additionally, the proposal to install solar panels in unused areas near industrial enterprises is geared towards providing supplemental energy sources and alleviating the burden on the national energy system.
President Mirziyoyev acknowledged the positive impact of tax and customs benefits facilitated by decrees and decisions. For instance, customs benefits for the import of textile dyes resulted in reduced costs for knitted fabrics, shirts, suits, and trousers. The presentation highlighted the potential for extending these benefits to consolidate achieved results.
Expressing approval for the proposed initiatives, President Mirziyoyev issued instructions to refine relevant regulatory documents. Designated officials received directives to identify growth points in all 208 districts and cities, preparing projects with a focus on increasing the income of the population.
These proactive measures underscore Uzbekistan’s commitment to sustained economic development, employment generation, and the optimization of regional resources under the visionary leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
