Tokyo, March 27, 2024, The Europe Today: In a significant endeavor aimed at fostering bilateral economic cooperation, a Turkmen-Japanese business forum convened in Tokyo, where representatives from both nations convened to discuss the potential establishment of a trade mission of Turkmenistan in Japan. The press service of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan provided insights into the proceedings of the forum.
Held within the premises of the Japan External Trade Development Organization (JETRO), the event attracted over 130 delegates representing business communities from Turkmenistan and Japan, underscoring the shared commitment to expanding economic collaboration.
Distinguished speakers at the forum included Norihiko Ishiguro, the head of JETRO, Ryosuke Kozuki, the State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and Masumi Hara, the executive director of the Turkmen-Japanese Joint Committee. They lauded the existing trade and economic relations between the two countries while highlighting the burgeoning interest of Japanese enterprises in the Turkmen market.
From the Turkmen side, a firm commitment to fostering comprehensive cooperation with Japan was reiterated. Discussions centered on the exploration of opening a trade mission of Turkmenistan in Tokyo, along with deliberations on the feasibility of establishing a JETRO representative office in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
A special video presentation showcasing the export potential of Turkmenistan provided participants with valuable insights into the country’s diverse economic landscape. Proposals were put forth for organizing business conferences, exhibitions, and reciprocal business visits to facilitate closer economic ties between Turkmenistan and Japan.
Japanese entrepreneurs were extended invitations to convene the next Turkmen-Japanese business forum in Ashgabat, further underscoring the commitment to nurturing bilateral economic relations.
