Nusantara City Capital Authority and US Sign Grant Agreement for Smart Forest City Development

Jakarta, May 04, 2024, The Europe Today: In a significant step towards realizing the vision of Nusantara as a smart forest city, the Nusantara City Capital Authority (OIKN) has entered into a grant agreement with the United States, marking a pivotal milestone in the development of this ambitious project.

Mohammed Ali Berawi, OIKN’s Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation, highlighted the exceptional nature of the Nusantara City project, particularly in its role as the new capital city of Indonesia. Berawi emphasized the importance of international collaboration in shaping Nusantara into a modern, sustainable, and globally integrated city. He expressed gratitude for the support extended by the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in facilitating this collaboration, acknowledging the US government’s pivotal role in advancing Nusantara’s development as a smart city.

USTDA Director Enoh T. Ebong echoed Berawi’s sentiments, emphasizing her agency’s commitment to supporting the development of Nusantara City. Ebong, drawing on her extensive experience in infrastructure development, commended the extraordinary efforts undertaken in Nusantara’s development, underscoring the unprecedented nature of the project.

The grant agreement, valued at US$2.49 million, will finance technical assistance aimed at implementing smart city technologies and solutions in Nusantara. This partnership between Indonesia and USTDA is poised to catalyze innovation and sustainability in urban development, paving the way for the integration of cutting-edge technologies in Nusantara’s infrastructure.

Furthermore, discussions are underway between OIKN and USTDA to prepare a grant cooperation for the second phase of the command center pilot project. This collaboration signifies a long-term commitment to fostering sustainable urban development and harnessing the potential of smart city initiatives to enhance the quality of life for residents of Nusantara City.
