Beijing, May 10, 2024, The Europe Today: China is set to host a series of events from May 17 to 19 in celebration of International Museum Day, with the Qin Han Museum of the Shaanxi History Museum serving as the focal point, announced the country’s cultural heritage authority.
On May 18, coinciding with International Museum Day, the Qin Han Museum of the Shaanxi History Museum will be formally inaugurated. Concurrently, a series of major exhibitions spotlighting the rich legacies of the Qin and Han civilizations, alongside a museum night activity, will be unveiled, disclosed Luo Wenli, Deputy Head of the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA), during a press conference on Friday.
This year’s commemoration will spotlight the pivotal role of museums in education and research, showcasing the latest advancements in museum development, and fostering closer ties between museums and the public.
Furthermore, a diverse array of celebratory events will be held nationwide under the auspices of the NCHA.
Since China’s official membership in the International Council of Museums in 1983, the country has consistently organized International Museum Day events annually, underscoring its commitment to promoting cultural heritage and fostering appreciation for museums’ cultural significance.
