Turkmenistan and Tatarstan Leaders Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, May 21, 2024, The Europe Today: The Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, held a telephone conversation to discuss the prospects for further development of traditional bilateral cooperation, as reported by TDH.

During the conversation, both leaders emphasized the longstanding and close ties between the Turkmen and Tatar peoples, rooted in common cultures, similar languages, a shared religion, and mutual respect and equality. They highlighted that regular high-level meetings and negotiations are clear evidence of the enduring friendship between the two nations, united by common spiritual values.

Currently, Turkmenistan and Tatarstan cooperate effectively in various sectors, including the oil and gas industry, shipbuilding, the chemical industry, and the supply of aircraft and trucks. Trade and economic ties are a crucial aspect of their relationship, with large Tatarstan companies operating successfully in the Turkmen market.

Humanitarian cooperation is also a significant component of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations, encompassing science, education, and the training of qualified personnel.

“We intend to continue to increase effective cooperation with the Republic of Tatarstan, which is an integral part of Turkmen-Russian interstate relations,” stated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

At the conclusion of the conversation, both leaders wished each other health and success in their governmental responsibilities, and prosperity and well-being to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
