Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov Meets German Counterpart Annalena Baerbock

Berlin, June 12, 2024, The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, on Tuesday during his working visit to Germany, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The meeting underscored the importance both nations place on Azerbaijan-Germany relations, with both ministers expressing a strong commitment to further enhancing these ties.

A significant focus of their discussions was the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan this year. The ministers highlighted the potential for increased cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany within the context of COP29. They also noted the success of their co-organization of the “Petersberg Climate Dialogue” and emphasized the significance of the ongoing Bonn Climate Change Conference.

Minister Bayramov provided an update on the current regional realities in the post-conflict period, particularly regarding the Azerbaijan-Armenia reconciliation process. He discussed the challenges and opportunities within the peace process, pointing out the ongoing claims against Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity present in the Armenian Constitution as a significant obstacle to signing a peace treaty.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on other regional issues of mutual concern, reflecting the broader scope of Azerbaijan-Germany diplomatic engagement.

The discussions between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Annalena Baerbock highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and global challenges through enhanced cooperation and dialogue.
