Geneva, June 16, 2024, The Europe Today: Samples of the commemorative postage stamps honoring the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi were officially handed over to Masahiko Metoki, the Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This significant event was reported by the Mission of Turkmenistan at the UN Geneva office, according to the MIC.
The UPU has decided to feature these commemorative stamp samples in the permanent exhibition of the Universal Postal Union Museum located in Bern, Switzerland. This decision underscores the cultural and historical importance of the stamps, which celebrate the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi, a renowned thinker and classical poet.
Additionally, copies of these anniversary stamps have been dispatched to all 192 countries participating in the Universal Postal Union. This widespread distribution highlights the global recognition and appreciation of Magtymguly Fragi’s contributions to literature and philosophy.
The commemorative postage stamps were first presented on May 20 at the US National Postal Museum in Washington. This event marked the beginning of a series of international acknowledgments and celebrations dedicated to the life and works of Magtymguly Fragi.
The inclusion of these stamps in the UPU Museum’s permanent collection and their global distribution serve to enhance international awareness of Magtymguly Fragi’s enduring legacy, fostering greater cultural exchange and understanding.
