China Advocates for Global Community with Shared Development at Beijing Conference

Beijing, July 12, 2024, The Europe Today: China will leverage its experience in modernization to promote the building of a global community with shared development, stated Wang Yi, China’s top diplomat, on Friday. Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, delivered these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in Beijing.

Since its inception nearly three years ago, the Global Development Initiative (GDI) has seen its cooperation mechanisms continuously strengthened, resulting in fruitful outcomes and widespread international acclaim. Wang Yi, who also serves as the director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, highlighted the active participation from the global community in the GDI’s endeavors.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

China remains committed to enriching financing channels, innovating cooperation models, strengthening capacity building, expanding partnership networks, and coordinating actions with all parties to sustain vigorous momentum for global development. Wang emphasized that the promotion of the GDI is timely and holds a promising future.

“China will anchor the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focus on the actual needs of people in all countries, deepen Global South cooperation, and enhance the alignment of development strategies among all parties,” Wang stated, underlining the country’s dedication to sustainable and inclusive growth.

Conference Participation

The conference, themed “Promoting Sustainable Development: Continuous Action for a Better Future,” was organized by the National Development and International Cooperation Agency. It attracted representatives from over 160 countries, international organizations, and various institutions, who participated both online and offline.
