Ashgabat, July 25, 2024, The Europe Today: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the newly appointed German Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Bernd Heinze, emphasizing the importance of Germany as a key partner for Turkmenistan in Europe. According to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the meeting highlighted the robust cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
President Berdimuhamedov underscored the positive nature of Turkmenistan-Germany political and diplomatic relations, noting successful collaboration at both bilateral and multilateral levels. He emphasized the mutual support shared within major international organizations, such as the United Nations, as a testament to the strength of their relations.
In recent years, the “Central Asia + Germany” dialogue has facilitated fruitful exchanges on issues of mutual interest, further enhancing cooperation. President Berdimuhamedov identified the trade and economic sphere as a priority area of bilateral relations, highlighting effective partnerships in industries such as agriculture, banking, and transport and communications.
The President praised the productivity of cooperation with the Eastern Committee of German Economy and acknowledged the significant contributions of German companies to Turkmenistan’s economic development. He cited the longstanding Turkmen-German relations in healthcare as a prime example, with programs focused on experience exchange and advanced training for Turkmen doctors.
Cultural and humanitarian ties were also noted as essential for strengthening interstate relations and enriching both cultures. President Berdimuhamedov advocated for mutual cultural fairs, museum cooperation, and educational exchanges to further these goals.
Congratulating Ambassador Heinze on his new role, President Berdimuhamedov expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support to enhance the interstate dialogue. Ambassador Heinze, in turn, assured that he would make every effort to develop friendly relations and intensify cooperation between Turkmenistan and Germany.
