Vietnam Expresses Gratitude for International Condolences on Passing of Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng

Hanoi, July 29, 2024, The Europe Today: Vietnam has extended heartfelt gratitude to leaders of countries, international organizations, political parties, and global friends for their sincere condolences following the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, along with President Tô Lâm, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat Lương Cường, and other Party and State leaders, have sent thank-you letters and messages to convey their appreciation.

In these messages, Vietnamese leaders reaffirmed their dedication to fulfilling General Secretary Trọng’s vision by strengthening friendship and cooperation with other countries and international partners. They emphasized their commitment to mutual benefits and the promotion of peace, cooperation, and prosperity globally and regionally.

In recent days, leaders from 103 countries and territories, alongside 32 international organizations, have sent nearly 500 letters and messages of condolences to Vietnam and the family of the late leader. These messages conveyed deep affection, profound sorrow, and immense respect for General Secretary Trọng, honoring his contributions to Vietnam’s development and its international relationships. Furthermore, they expressed a strong desire to enhance cooperation with Vietnam across various sectors.

Additionally, around 100 international delegations have paid floral tributes in Vietnam, while over 3,500 others have paid their respects to the Party chief at Vietnamese diplomatic agencies around the world.

Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng passed away in Hanoi on July 19 at the age of 80. His passing marks a significant moment of reflection and tribute to his enduring legacy and contributions to the nation.
