Sifan Hassan Sets New Olympic Record in Women’s Marathon at 2024 Paris Olympics

Paris, August 11, 2024, The Europe Today: Accoeding to the News Hub Consultants, Dutch athlete Sifan Hassan claimed victory in the women’s marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 2:22:25.

Hassan’s remarkable performance broke the previous record of 2:23:07, set by Ethiopia’s Tiki Gelana at the 2012 London Olympics.

The silver medal in the 2024 race was awarded to Tigst Assefa of Ethiopia, who finished just three seconds behind Hassan. Kenya’s Hellen Obiri secured the bronze with a time of 2:23:10.

This victory adds to Hassan’s impressive achievements, having won the 2023 marathons in London and Chicago. Earlier this week in Paris, she also earned bronze medals in the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races, building on her gold medal in the 1,000-meter race at the Tokyo 2021 Games.

Hassan’s triumph in the marathon cements her status as one of the most versatile and accomplished athletes in modern distance running.
