Paris, August 10, 2024, The Europe Today: French authorities announced on Saturday that American rapper Travis Scott was released from police custody in Paris, with all charges against him dropped.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the release, stating that there would be no further legal action. A representative for Scott indicated that his management is working with French authorities to “swiftly resolve” the situation.
Scott, known for his hit song “Sicko Mode,” was detained on Friday following a dispute with one of his security guards at the Four Seasons George V hotel. The rapper was in Paris attending the Olympic Games.
A History of Legal Issues
Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, has faced legal challenges before. In June, he was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing. The incident occurred after complaints that Scott was combative with others on a yacht he had rented.
Scott’s legal troubles extend further back to 2021, when a tragic crowd crush at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas, led to the deaths of 10 people. The incident, which took place during Scott’s performance, resulted in numerous lawsuits against the Grammy-nominated artist.
