Melaka Prepares for National Day with Festive Decorations on Historic Bridges

Melaka, August 24, 2024, The Europe Today: In anticipation of next week’s National Day celebrations, the historic city of Melaka is enhancing its charm by adorning and illuminating its pre-war bridges across Sungai Melaka. The festive decorations at two iconic bridges, Jambatan Kampung Jawa and Jambatan Pasar, have quickly become popular attractions, drawing both locals and tourists to admire the vibrant displays.

This initiative, spearheaded by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, aims to create a memorable National Day experience for visitors while instilling a sense of patriotism among Malaysians.

“This nation was formed by Malaysians, regardless of creed or race. We will come together to proudly celebrate our Merdeka and showcase to the tourists our pride of being citizens of this great nation,” Ab Rauf stated yesterday.

He emphasized that the celebration of National Day in Melaka will highlight the city’s rich cultural heritage, reflecting the unity and harmony among Malaysia’s diverse races. “Let’s fly our Jalur Gemilang with zeal and pride, with Melaka representing the essence of Malaysia,” he added, underscoring the city’s role as a symbol of national unity.

As preparations continue, the historical bridges are expected to draw even more visitors, further contributing to the festive atmosphere and showcasing the spirit of Merdeka in one of Malaysia’s most culturally significant cities.
