Đà Lạt City, August 25, 2024, The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính underscored the strategic importance of the Central Highlands region for Vietnam’s economy, politics, security, national defense, and ecological balance during a high-level conference on security and socio-economic development held in Đà Lạt City on Sunday.
Chairing the conference, PM Chính highlighted that the Party and State have consistently prioritized the stability and growth of the Central Highlands provinces. The government has enacted numerous resolutions to guide this development, including the latest Politburo’s Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW. This resolution outlines “Orientations for Socio-Economic Development and Ensuring National Defense and Security in the Central Highlands Region to 2030.”
Despite the progress made, PM Chính acknowledged ongoing challenges and limitations in policy implementation within the region. He emphasized the need for a robust foundation that respects the region’s cultural identity and leverages its potential and advantages. The Prime Minister called upon ministries and local authorities to treat security and order as crucial, long-term responsibilities, with Party committee leaders and local officials bearing primary accountability.
PM Chính stressed that maintaining public order hinges on improving the prosperity of local residents and ensuring that no one is left behind. He outlined six key tasks for authorities, focusing on utilizing development as a driver for security and order. These tasks include addressing issues related to residential and production land, eliminating temporary and dilapidated housing, and tackling spontaneous migration. He urged efforts to create livelihoods and support employment for ethnic groups and to continuously enhance local living standards.
The Prime Minister called for a determined, action-oriented approach with effective management and early resolution of problems at the grassroots level. He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and combating crime to build a solid security foundation and enhance national defense.
In his remarks, Minister of Public Security Lương Tam Quang assured that the police force would play a central role in implementing the Party’s guidelines and state policies. The Ministry will coordinate closely with relevant bodies to combat crime and maintain a secure environment in the Central Highlands.
Conference delegates unanimously agreed on the Party and State’s dedicated efforts to advance the region’s economic and social development. They expressed their commitment to implementing solutions that ensure security and order, reflecting a unified approach towards overcoming challenges and driving the region’s progress.
Prime Minister Chính concluded with a hopeful vision: “With the spirit of ‘The whole country for the Central Highlands, the Central Highlands overcoming difficulties and rising with the whole country,’ I am confident that the Central Highlands, along with neighboring provinces, will harness new energy and motivation to achieve significant socio-economic advancements and fulfill their development goals.”
