Dushanbe, August 26, 2024, The Europe Today: A high-level meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Akhmed Gurbanov, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, as part of the Turkmen delegation’s visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. The meeting, confirmed by a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, focused on deepening cooperation between the two nations.
Central to the discussions was the upcoming inauguration of the Makhtumkuli comprehensive secondary school in the Dusti district of Tajikistan’s Khatlon region. The school, set to become a symbol of the enduring friendship and brotherhood between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, reflects the countries’ shared commitment to cultural and educational exchange.
The foundation stone for the school was ceremonially laid last May during the state visit of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Tajikistan. The event, attended by the Heads of State of both nations, marked a significant milestone in the partnership between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.
In addition to the school project, the meeting between Gurbanov and Mukhriddin also highlighted the robust development of bilateral relations. The ministers discussed the current state of trade and economic cooperation, with a particular emphasis on collaboration in the fields of transport, energy, and ecology. Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also a key focus, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the Turkmen-Tajik relationship.
This meeting serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts by both nations to enhance their strategic partnership, with future projects and collaborations anticipated in various sectors. The opening of the Makhtumkuli school is expected to further cement the ties between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, fostering closer connections between their peoples.
