Madani Malaysia Unity Contingent to Showcase Diverse Traditional Attire and Cultural Performances at National Day Celebration

Kuala Lumpur, August 28, 2024, The Europe Today: The upcoming National Day celebration on August 31 will feature a vibrant display of Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, as the Madani Malaysia unity contingent showcases diverse traditional attire, dances, and cultural performances from various ethnic groups across the country.

Khairulizam Othman, the chief coordinator of the contingent, announced that 800 participants will don traditional attire complete with accessories, providing visitors with a rare opportunity to view these striking outfits up close. The contingent’s parade will highlight traditional performances, including the seldom-seen Jidur and Tetuang dances, along with popular acts such as kompang performances, dragon and lion dances, Chingay parade, Urumi drumming, and the Bhangra and Peacock dances.

“Our contingent’s parade will begin with a display of Malay dance and attire, followed by representations from the Chinese and Indian communities, as well as ethnic groups from Peninsular Malaysia,” said Khairulizam. “The parade will conclude with a showcase of the ethnic tribes of Sabah and Sarawak, including a presentation of 10 warrior horses from the Bajau tribe.”

Following the parade, visitors will be invited to take photos with the participants at the end of the route at Dataran Masjid Putra. Khairulizam noted that this event offers a unique opportunity for Malaysians to witness the full traditional attire of various ethnic groups, including the Orang Asli, Sabah and Sarawak ethnic groups, the Siamese, and the Baba Nyonya.

“This will be a unique experience for visitors, showcasing the traditional costumes of our multicultural society and serving as a symbol of unity for Malaysia,” he added.
