Đà Nẵng, September 01, 2024, The Europe Today: Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has called upon the central city of Đà Nẵng to spearhead three critical initiatives aimed at fostering balanced, rapid, and sustainable development. The directives were issued during a working session with the Standing Board of the municipal Party Committee, focusing on Đà Nẵng’s socio-economic progress in the first seven months of 2024 and future strategic directions.
Prime Minister Chính emphasized Đà Nẵng’s pivotal role in advancing the socialist-oriented market economy, driving innovation through scientific advancements, and championing the green, digital, circular, and sharing economies. He also highlighted the importance of decentralization, resource allocation, and administrative reform as essential pillars for the city’s growth.
In his address, the Prime Minister urged city officials to deeply understand Đà Nẵng’s significance as a regional leader and economic powerhouse within the north central and central coastal regions. He underscored the city’s responsibility to achieve the goals set for 2024 and the ongoing term, targeting a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate of 8-8.5% for the year. Chính further stressed the importance of maintaining economic stability by controlling inflation and ensuring major economic balances.
To propel Đà Nẵng’s development, Prime Minister Chính instructed the city to fully leverage its resources, enhance investment effectiveness, and expedite digital transformation. He also emphasized the need for robust research, development, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovation.
Chính also reminded city leaders to balance socio-economic development with cultural preservation, environmental protection, and social welfare. He called for strengthened integration and foreign relations, bolstered national defense and security, and the maintenance of political stability and social order.
The Prime Minister also placed significant emphasis on the importance of building a transparent and strong political system. He urged the enhancement of the leadership capacity and combat strength of Party organizations and members.
Finally, Prime Minister Chính called on relevant ministries and sectors to collaborate with and support Đà Nẵng in addressing challenges and advancing its development agenda.
According to the municipal Party Committee, Đà Nẵng’s GRDP growth rate reached an estimated 5% in the first half of 2024. The city welcomed 6.6 million tourists and generated over VNĐ20 trillion (US$804 million) in tourism revenue during the first seven months, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 33% and 30%, respectively. The city also recorded a 4.7% rise in its industrial production index (IIP) and an 11.5% increase in total import-export turnover, amounting to over $1.8 billion. As of August 15, Đà Nẵng’s state budget revenue exceeded VNĐ16 trillion, achieving 85.23% of the annual target.
