Tatarstan and Uzbekistan Discuss Expansion of Bilateral Relations

Kazan, September 03, 2024, the Europe Today: Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, met with Nodirjon Kasimov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan, to explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors.

During their meeting, President Minnikhanov praised the friendly ties between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan, acknowledging the significant role of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in fostering these relations. He highlighted the valuable work of the Uzbek Consulate General in Kazan, which has been pivotal in reinforcing the historical connections between the two nations.

Consul General Kasimov expressed appreciation for Tatarstan’s proactive engagement with Uzbekistan. He noted the potential to increase trade turnover and expand service offerings in trade, and conveyed Uzbekistan’s eagerness to further develop multilateral partnerships.

The discussions covered a broad range of topics, including trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Key areas of focus included student exchange programs, personnel training, and ongoing projects in Chirchik and Jizzakh. The creation of joint industrial zones in the Bukhara and Navoi regions was also a significant topic of discussion.

The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship, enhancing trade and economic collaboration, and fostering cultural and educational exchanges between Tatarstan and Uzbekistan.
