Belarus Upholds Peaceful and Friendly State Status, Says Council Chair at Eurasian Women’s Forum

Minsk, September 18, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarus continues to affirm its reputation as a peaceful, strong, and friendly nation, according to Natalya Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus. Kochanova made the remarks at the opening of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg on September 18, as reported by News Hub Consultants via BelTA.

In her address, Kochanova reflected on the significant events of 2024, including the nation’s first single voting day for parliamentary elections and the successful inaugural session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress under its new constitutional framework. She also noted the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Belarus and the institution of the presidency, along with the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi occupation.

Highlighting Belarus’ swift development into a sovereign and independent nation, Kochanova credited the leadership of President Alexander Lukashenko for steering the country toward stability and progress. “We have built a fair-minded, truly people’s country, which invariably confirms its status as a strong, peace-loving, and friendly state with a responsible and predictable foreign policy,” she said.

Addressing international assessments, Kochanova underscored Belarus’ commendable performance in global rankings. The country ranks 34th out of 166 nations in the Sustainable Development Goals Index, 61st in the Social Development Index, and 69th in the Global Human Development Index. Belarus also holds the 35th spot among 175 countries for childhood life satisfaction and ranks 25th in terms of the most comfortable countries for motherhood.
