Rome, September 21, 2024 — The Europe Today: Colonel General Karim Valiyev, Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, visited the NATO Defense College (NDC) in Rome as part of his official duties,News Hub Consultants reported, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
During the visit, Colonel General Valiyev held a meeting with Lieutenant General Max A.L.T. Nielsen, the Commandant of the NATO Defense College. The meeting was also attended by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Rashad Aslanov. Discussions centered around expanding opportunities and deepening cooperation in military education between Azerbaijan and NATO.
Following the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev was briefed on the history, mission, and academic activities of the NATO Defense College, including the conditions provided for students and staff. The college, which plays a pivotal role in NATO’s educational and training initiatives, offers courses designed to enhance strategic-level understanding of defense and security issues.
In a further engagement, Colonel General Valiyev met with Azerbaijani servicemen and civilian personnel involved in NATO’s Partnership Staff Post Concept and participants of the NATO Regional Cooperation Course. He took the opportunity to enquire about their educational experiences and the learning environment provided by the NATO Defense College.
This visit underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening military education and cooperation with NATO.
