Bishkek and Tokyo Strengthen Ties in Urban Development and Infrastructure Cooperation

Bishkek, September 26, 2024, The Europe Today: First Vice Mayor of Bishkek, Mirlanbek Baigonchokov, held a meeting with a Japanese delegation led by Nozomu Minagawa, Director of the International Cooperation Department at Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between cities in Kyrgyzstan and Japan, particularly in the areas of urban construction, public utilities, transport infrastructure, and parking space management.

Vice Mayor Baigonchokov emphasized the importance of fostering consistent and productive relations between the two countries’ capital cities. “We are keen to learn from Japan’s experience in tackling the challenges we face in these sectors,” he noted.

Both parties expressed optimism about the potential for fruitful cooperation and the exchange of expertise between Bishkek and Japan, signaling a new chapter in urban development and infrastructure collaboration.
