Hezbollah Confirms Martyrdom of Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah Following Israeli Airstrike

Beirut, September 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: Hezbollah has officially confirmed the martyrdom of its Secretary-General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, following an Israeli airstrike on Friday evening in southern Beirut.

In a statement released on Saturday, Hezbollah announced, “His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, has joined his great and immortal martyr comrades who have led their path for nearly thirty years.”

According to resistance media, Nasrallah was killed during a massive Israeli assault targeting what Israeli military sources described as the “central headquarters” of Hezbollah in the Dahieh district, a stronghold of the movement in southern Beirut.

The attack comes amid rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, fueled by ongoing conflict in Gaza. Israeli strikes in Gaza have led to retaliatory actions by Hezbollah along the Lebanon-Israel border, sparking concerns of a broader regional escalation.

Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah for almost three decades, was a key figure in shaping the organization’s political and military influence in Lebanon, especially in its long-standing confrontation with Israel. His death marks a significant turning point in the intensifying hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israeli regime.

The Israeli Defense Forces have not yet issued a formal statement regarding Nasrallah’s assassination.
