Moscow, October 2, 2024 – The Europe Today: In a significant development for bilateral trade, Pakistan and Russia have entered into a formal barter trade agreement, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday in Moscow.
Russian company LLC “Astarta Agrotrading” joined forces with Pakistani firms Meskay & Femtee Trading Company and National Fruit Processing Factory, agreeing to exchange key goods including chickpeas, rice, mandarins, potatoes, and red lentils.
This agreement was reached during the first-ever Pakistan-Russia Trade and Investment Forum, a landmark event attended by a delegation of 60 Pakistani companies led by Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan. The forum, inaugurated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, aimed to strengthen economic ties and explore new business avenues between the two nations.
Russian government officials and business representatives also participated in the event, reflecting the growing interest in expanding trade despite challenges posed by SWIFT sanctions on Russian companies.
