Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Discusses Key National Development Goals

Ashgabat, October 4, 2024 – The Europe Today: A meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was held under the chairmanship of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, according to the state news agency TDH. The gathering focused on key national priorities arising from the recent Halk Maslahaty meeting, held in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

The meeting brought together members of the Presidium, the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of political parties, public associations, and heads of state organizations and media. One of the central topics of discussion was the preparation for the 2025 events, which will mark the International Year of Peace and Trust. A decree confirming this designation was signed by the President of Turkmenistan during the national forum.

The development of science, education, healthcare, and sports was also high on the agenda. Particular focus was placed on the education of youth and the implementation of two key long-term plans: the Strategy for Development of Science in Turkmenistan for 2024-2052 and the Concept for Development of the City of Arkadag for 2024-2052. Both initiatives aim to modernize and guide Turkmenistan’s growth in crucial sectors over the coming decades.

Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the evolving role of the Halk Maslahaty in enriching the country’s governance and strengthening national unity. He emphasized that these new initiatives are crucial for fostering the nation’s unity, enhancing governance, and ensuring the long-term development of society.

The meeting reflected the commitment of Turkmenistan’s leadership to continue investing in the country’s future, focusing on progressive goals in science, education, and social welfare while upholding the values of peace and trust on the global stage.
