Pakistan’s Senate Chairman Highlights Steady Growth in Pakistan-Azerbaijan Trade

Islamabad, October 09, 2024 – The Europe Today: Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, highlighted the consistent increase in bilateral trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov. The meeting underscored the growing economic ties between the two nations, driven by strong cultural and religious bonds.

Chairman Gilani emphasized the need to further enhance trade links, pointing to the vast potential for expanding cooperation across various sectors. He remarked on the cordial relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan at international forums, which reflect the deep respect and mutual admiration shared by both nations. He also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing high-level engagement between the two countries, noting the importance of continued collaboration through the exchange of delegations and exploring new avenues for bilateral cooperation.

Gilani stressed the importance of increasing people-to-people contacts through more frequent exchanges at the parliamentary and other levels, which he believes will further strengthen ties between the two countries.

In his remarks, Gilani also conveyed his well wishes to the Parliament and leadership of Azerbaijan. He congratulated Azerbaijan on securing the bid to host COP29 in Baku in November 2024, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to participating in this important global event.

Additionally, Chairman Gilani extended an invitation to his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time, further reinforcing the spirit of cooperation between the two nations.

Ambassador Khazar Farhadov, in response, expressed his gratitude to Chairman Gilani for the warm reception and echoed the need for increased high-level contacts between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. The Ambassador also underscored Azerbaijan’s desire to deepen cooperation with Pakistan across multiple sectors, recognizing Pakistan’s significance as a strategic partner for Azerbaijan.

“The bilateral ties between our countries continue to strengthen, and we are committed to exploring new areas for collaboration,” Ambassador Farhadov stated.
