Minsk, October 16, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has endorsed an initiative to lift restrictions on pension payments for working seniors, as announced by Yuri Senko, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. The decision will allow pensioners to receive their full pension alongside their salary, without the current limitations.
Senko explained that the issue was first raised during a meeting with President Lukashenko in June. The proposed change addresses the Individual Income Coefficient, which currently prevents working pensioners with a coefficient above 1.3 from receiving their full pension. As a result, some pensioners have been losing part of their earned benefits.
The forthcoming decree, expected soon, will remove this restriction, ensuring that working pensioners will receive both 100% of their pension and their full salary. “Today, the head of state fully supported the idea,” Senko told reporters, expressing optimism about the positive impact on working seniors in Belarus.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving social welfare for retirees while recognizing their continued contributions to the workforce.
