Islamabad, October 16, 2024 – The Europe Today: Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the commitment to deepen collaboration with Kyrgyzstan during a meeting with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov on the sidelines of the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad.
In his remarks, Premier Li affirmed China’s intent to consolidate mutual support and develop a reliable partnership with Kyrgyzstan, highlighting the importance of high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. He referenced a previous meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Astana in July, which outlined plans for building a closer China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future and enhancing bilateral relations.
Li expressed China’s readiness to enhance coordination with Kyrgyzstan, aiming to elevate bilateral collaboration across various fields and promote common development and prosperity. He called for efforts to develop the bilateral relationship with a strategic, long-term perspective, including improving connectivity, enhancing infrastructure, and expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as new energy, cross-border e-commerce, big data, and artificial intelligence.
The Chinese Premier also emphasized the importance of deepening cultural, educational, and health exchanges to foster enduring friendship between the two nations. He reiterated China’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the previous year’s China-Central Asia Summit and strengthening cooperation within the SCO framework.
Prime Minister Zhaparov acknowledged the long-standing friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and China, citing close high-level exchanges and fruitful economic cooperation. He expressed gratitude for China’s support in Kyrgyzstan’s economic and social development and affirmed the country’s commitment to advancing the consensus reached by the two heads of state.
Zhaparov emphasized the significance of deepening the Belt and Road cooperation, particularly through the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, and enhancing collaboration in various sectors, including port construction, finance, mining, education, and tourism. He reiterated Kyrgyzstan’s support for President Xi’s vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and its readiness to strengthen multilateral coordination to promote regional peace and prosperity.
