Kazakh Deputy PM Meets Luxembourg Leaders to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Luxembourg, October 16, 2024 – The Europe Today: As part of an official visit to Luxembourg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, held high-level meetings with Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden and Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Xavier Bettel, NHC reports.

During the meeting with Prime Minister Frieden, Luxembourg reiterated its view of Kazakhstan as a key partner in Central Asia, highlighting the significant potential for business cooperation. Prime Minister Frieden expressed Luxembourg’s readiness to support Kazakhstan’s efforts to modernize key sectors of its economy and introduce advanced technologies.

Minister Nurtleu emphasized the long-standing partnership between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg within the framework of the European Union. Since 2005, Luxembourg has contributed approximately $2.9 billion in foreign direct investment to Kazakhstan’s economy, reflecting the strength of their economic ties.

The discussions also focused on enhancing trade and economic cooperation, with both sides underscoring the importance of stability and security in Central Asia. The officials exchanged views on pressing international issues and discussed potential areas for future collaboration.

In a separate meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, both parties explored promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including financial technologies, green energy, pharmaceuticals, and transport infrastructure. They agreed on the need to deepen economic ties and expand opportunities for business collaboration between the two countries.

Minister Nurtleu also met with the President of the European Investment Bank and senior executives from major European companies. One of these companies plans to deliver internet access to 328 villages in Kazakhstan, a significant step toward advancing the country’s digital infrastructure.

These meetings mark a continued commitment to strengthening the partnership between Kazakhstan and Luxembourg, as well as fostering broader cooperation with the European Union.
