Hanoi, October 23, 2024 – The Europe Today: On Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, departed from Hà Nội for the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. The visit is at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Chair of BRICS 2024.
Accompanying the Prime Minister are key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Hồng Diên, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Đặng Minh Khôi, among others from various ministries and agencies.
The summit, held from October 23 to 24, is a critical platform for cooperation between BRICS countries and developing nations. This year’s event will host leaders from BRICS member states and representatives from over 30 guest countries, including various developing nations and international organizations.
Under the theme “BRICS and the Global South: Building the Future of the World Together,” leaders will focus on fostering economic growth and enhancing connectivity between BRICS nations and the Global South. Discussions will also cover emerging growth drivers such as the digital economy, green economy, circular economy, and innovation in science and technology.
The summit will also explore the development of a balanced and inclusive global governance framework, aiming to amplify the role and voice of developing countries in international affairs.
Prime Minister Chính’s participation in the summit reflects Việt Nam’s commitment to its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateral diplomacy. It reinforces Việt Nam’s proactive stance in addressing global challenges, while promoting multilateralism and international cooperation. Through its involvement, Việt Nam aims to strengthen its role on the global stage, advocating for peace, cooperation, and development.
The summit will also provide an opportunity for Việt Nam to enhance its cooperation with Russia and other nations, while reinforcing its image as a dynamic, innovative, and peaceful country.
