Minsk, October 24, 2024 – The Europe Today: In a recent interview with China’s CGTN, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko described China as the main pillar of BRICS, emphasizing its critical role in the global organization. Lukashenko praised China’s growing influence, stating that it has already become the world’s leading country, challenging the United States.
“China is a power. It is an advantage for organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) or BRICS. BRICS should be happy with China’s participation,” said Lukashenko on 23 October.
He highlighted BRICS as a young but rapidly evolving group, and stressed China’s invaluable contribution to its development. Lukashenko also noted the increasing role of India and Russia within BRICS, calling them “gigantic locomotives” with immense global resources.
