Traditional Henna Ceremony

Traditional Henna Ceremony Marks Royal Wedding Preparations for Tengku Arif Bendahara and Tengku Natasya

Kuantan, October 26, 2024 – The Europe Today: The royal henna ceremony (majlis berinai) for the highly anticipated wedding between Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Natasya Puteri Tengku Adnan was held with time-honored customs at Balai Temenggong, Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan on Friday evening.

The ceremony began at 8:20 p.m. with Tengku Natasya, the bride, being escorted to Balai Mahkota, where she was warmly received by Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. Her Royal Highness personally applied henna to the bride’s palms, a symbolic gesture that signifies the beginning of the wedding ceremonies in the traditional Malay culture.

In a unique and traditional display, 16 attendants holding candles marked the entrance of Tengku Muhammad into Balai Temenggong, with each candle being lit to create a regal and ceremonial atmosphere.

The Royal Wedding celebrations will culminate this Sunday with the Majlis Persandingan, the royal wedding reception, set to be held at Istana Abdulaziz.
