Tashkent, October 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: A delegation led by Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Tajikistan, Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda, recently visited Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission to observe the electoral process.
During the meeting, CEC Chairman of Uzbekistan, Zayniddin Nizamkhodjayev, highlighted key reforms in the country’s Election Code and shared significant advancements in Uzbekistan’s political landscape. Nizamkhodjayev emphasized that the election of deputies to the lower house is conducted through a mixed electoral system, combining both majority and proportional representation.
The observers lauded Uzbekistan for organizing this pivotal political event on democratic principles, underscoring that it fully aligns with international norms and standards. The delegation also acknowledged the active engagement of Uzbek citizens, who recognize the importance of elections and exercise their voting rights freely.
