Islamabad, November 1, 2024 – The Europe Today: Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, proposed establishing a sister-city relationship between Islamabad and Astana during a meeting with Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Thursday. As part of the cultural exchange, the ambassador also suggested renaming an Islamabad street after a distinguished Kazakh figure.
Ambassador Kistafin expressed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan across cultural, economic, and business domains. He praised Pakistan’s recent hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and commended Islamabad’s warm hospitality and scenic beauty, which left a lasting impression on Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister during his visit.
Chairman Randhawa welcomed the proposals, affirming the CDA’s support for formalizing this relationship through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). He also highlighted potential areas of collaboration, including city development projects like the establishment of a new, modern slaughterhouse.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to foster closer ties, marking a new chapter in Pakistan-Kazakhstan relations through enhanced urban and cultural partnerships.
