Lahore, November 10, 2024 – The Europe Today: In a significant leadership update, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Sumair Ahmad Syed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) on Saturday, with approval from the Board of Governors (BoG) during its 75th meeting at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Gaddafi Stadium. Sumair replaces Salman Naseer, who has now taken on the roles of Advisor to the PCB Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).
A seasoned civil servant with extensive experience in administration, Sumair Ahmad Syed joins PCB from his recent role as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. Expressing gratitude and optimism for Sumair’s appointment, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated, “Sumair is an outstanding professional with proven administrative skills and deep industry knowledge. We are delighted to welcome him to the PCB family, confident that under his leadership, we’ll enhance our administrative framework and bring PCB closer to becoming a high-performing organization.”
The re-designation of Salman Naseer follows his impactful tenure as COO, a role he has held for nearly five years. Acknowledging his contributions, Naqvi added, “Salman has been an exemplary leader, providing invaluable insights and guidance to PCB. Given our plans to expand PSL, he has been appointed as CEO for PSL and Advisor to the Chairman to ensure continuity in our strategic objectives.”
