Baku, November 12, 2024 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Monday night to participate in the “World Leaders’ Climate Action Summit” during the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. This key international summit brings together global leaders to discuss urgent climate action and collaborative solutions for environmental sustainability.
Upon his arrival at Baku’s international airport, Prime Minister Sharif was warmly received by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Valeh Oglu Mustafayev, reflecting the close and friendly ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The Prime Minister is joined on this important visit by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
The COP29 Climate Summit, which runs from November 11 to 22, will serve as a platform for leaders and representatives to discuss and advance strategies for combating climate change, promoting renewable energy solutions, enhancing climate resilience, and addressing pressing environmental issues affecting nations worldwide. Pakistan’s delegation is expected to advocate for global cooperation on climate challenges and share insights from its experiences in climate resilience and environmental policy.
