Turkmenistan’s President Discusses Agricultural Progress and National Rural Program

Ashgabat, November 12, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan held a working meeting with key officials, including Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atakhalliyev and regional governors (hyakims), to review the ongoing agricultural efforts and the implementation of the National Rural Program.

During the meeting, it was reported that the cotton harvest continues across the country’s regions (velayats), with efforts to ensure smooth transportation to receiving points without losses. In addition to cotton harvesting, work is actively underway to maintain wheat crops, including soil irrigation and weed control measures.

The regions of Dashoguz and Lebap are currently engaged in rice harvesting, while the Mary region is focusing on the sugar beet harvest. President Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of maintaining strict oversight at every stage of agricultural work and ensuring the preparation for the upcoming season.

The President also highlighted the importance of closely monitoring the construction of both social and industrial facilities in the regions, which are slated for completion this year. The goal is to ensure that these projects are completed on time and contribute to the ongoing development of rural areas in Turkmenistan.
