Zhuhai, November 13, 2024 – The Europe Today: Russia unveiled its new fifth-generation stealth fighter jet, the SU-57E, at the 15th Airshow China, with its world premiere flight captivating attendees. Operated by distinguished Russian test pilot Sergey Bogdan, the highly maneuverable, supersonic aircraft demonstrated its impressive aerobatic capabilities during the airshow’s flight program in Zhuhai.
Developed by Sukhoi, the Su-57 is designed for stealth and versatility, capable of evading radar detection while effectively striking both aerial and ground targets, including advanced air defense systems. The multirole fighter boasts supermaneuverability, supercruise capabilities, integrated avionics, and a significant payload capacity. The Su-57 entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2020 and continues to stand out as a cutting-edge platform in modern aerial combat.
Vadim Badekha, CEO of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), highlighted the global interest surrounding the Su-57, remarking, “The Su-57 aircraft is one of the best fifth-generation aircraft in the world, and in a number of characteristics it has no equal.” He further noted that a “certain queue has formed” among international partners for the aircraft, reflecting sustained demand.
Rostec, Russia’s state-owned defense corporation, described the Su-57E as the star of the Russian display at Airshow China 2024, emphasizing its stealth features and ability to deploy high-precision guided weaponry. Amid ongoing global tensions, including the conflict in Ukraine, Russia has committed to ramping up production of the Su-57 to strengthen its military capabilities.
At Airshow China, Rosoboronexport, Russia’s state agency for international arms trade, organized an extensive display featuring not only the Su-57 but also a range of advanced military assets. Exhibits included the X-69 multifunctional stealth air-to-ground high-precision cruise missile, the Grom-E1 air-launched guided missile, K08BE corrected aerial bomb, and the UPAB-1500B-E guided gliding aerial bomb, alongside various helicopters and air defense systems.
The Airshow China 2024, running from November 12-17, brings together around 150 foreign exhibitors from 47 countries, showcasing the latest in military and civil aircraft, space technology, air defense systems, weapons, and electronic warfare advancements.
