Jakarta, November 14, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Indonesian government has reaffirmed its support for U.S. investors seeking to expand their investments across various sectors in Indonesia, including energy, technology, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, according to Minister of Investment and Downstream Affairs Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Minister Roeslani emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to facilitating U.S. investments that contribute to the country’s development, with a strong focus on sustainability. He highlighted the importance of incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into investment decisions, as well as ensuring that investments positively impact local communities.
The Indonesian government plans to implement this support through bureaucratic simplification and robust law enforcement, particularly in addressing corruption, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of fostering a transparent and conducive investment environment.
This commitment was shared during an exclusive meeting between the Indonesian government and corporate leaders of the United States-Indonesia Society (USINDO) in Washington, D.C. earlier this week, part of President Prabowo’s visit, which also included a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden. The meeting saw the participation of 12 prominent U.S. company leaders interested in investing in Indonesia.
USINDO member Ted Osius reported that several U.S. companies have shown interest in supporting Indonesia’s geothermal energy and carbon capture technology projects, aligning with the government’s sustainability initiatives. Osius further revealed that in December, he would lead a delegation of U.S. entrepreneurs to Indonesia to explore new business opportunities across various sectors, including energy, information technology, healthcare, infrastructure, education, retail, and finance.
On November 11, President Prabowo, accompanied by Minister Roeslani, attended a meeting with USINDO to discuss potential collaboration between Indonesia and the United States in the fields of economy, investment, education, and defense. During the session, President Prabowo underscored the significance of U.S. support for Indonesia’s economic growth and elaborated on the government’s priorities, including sustainable economic development, food security, and investment in critical sectors like energy, infrastructure, and education. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to creating a friendly and favorable investment climate for international partners, particularly U.S. companies.
