Moscow, November 20, 2024 — The Europe Today: Transport Week 2024 has officially commenced in Moscow, marking a significant event in the transportation sector. The week-long event features the Transport 2024 forum and exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts from around the world.
A key highlight of the event was a meeting between Ilhom Mahkamov, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Roman Starovoit, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. During the discussions, both ministers focused on enhancing cooperation in the transportation sector, particularly through the implementation of joint railway infrastructure projects and the exploration of new routes across the Caspian Sea.
As part of their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, the ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at organizing joint efforts in the construction of railway infrastructure. This agreement is expected to pave the way for the development of key transport links between the two countries, boosting regional connectivity and facilitating the movement of goods and passengers.
The signing of the MoU underscores the growing partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia, as both nations work together to modernize and expand their transportation networks, contributing to broader economic cooperation across the region.
