President Tokayev Welcomes Russian Counterpart Vladimir Putin in Astana

Astana, November 27, 2024 – The Europe Today: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended a warm welcome to Russian President Vladimir Putin upon his arrival in Astana for a state visit, according to media reports.

A guard of honor was assembled at the airport to greet the distinguished guest, underscoring the significance of the visit. In a gesture symbolizing the strong friendship between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia, children holding the flags of both nations recited poems to welcome President Putin and his official delegation.

Highlighting the cultural aspect of the occasion, renowned Kazakh artist Assel Sabyrzhankyzy, known professionally as Assol, presented a painting she began creating during President Putin’s journey to Astana. In a symbolic act of collaboration, the artist invited both President Tokayev and President Putin to contribute to the artwork. Upon completion, the painting will be gifted to the Russian leader as a memento of the visit.

The state visit reflects the enduring partnership and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Russia, further strengthening bilateral relations.
