Chengdu, December 01, 2024 – The Europe Today: China and Turkmenistan have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including trade, energy, and cultural exchanges. The pledge was made during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on Saturday in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, as Meredov visited China for the fifth China-Central Asia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the importance of continuing the traditional friendship between the two nations and implementing the agreements reached by their heads of state. He emphasized the need for mutual support on core issues, exploring new avenues for expanding cooperation, and making breakthroughs in energy partnerships, while further strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
“We are willing to expand trade and investment cooperation with Turkmenistan and encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Turkmenistan,” Wang stated.
Meredov, for his part, reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to its permanent friendship with China and expressed a willingness to maintain close high-level exchanges. He also underscored the role of the Turkmenistan-China Cooperation Committee in advancing mutually beneficial initiatives, particularly the flagship natural gas trade project between the two countries.
Both sides expressed optimism about deepening their cooperation and advancing their shared interests across various sectors.
