Kazakhstan and Iran Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation on ECO Summit Sidelines

Mashhad, December 3, 2024 – The Europe Today: On the sidelines of the 28th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, held a bilateral meeting with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The discussions aimed to enhance bilateral ties, particularly in trade, transport, and investment, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Minister Nurtleu emphasized the importance of bolstering trade cooperation and outlined upcoming high-level visits to Iran that are expected to invigorate economic relations between Astana and Tehran. He highlighted the necessity of specific measures to expand bilateral trade and economic ties.

Minister Araghchi expressed Iran’s readiness to leverage the substantial potential of both countries to implement agreements reached at the highest levels.

The two ministers also reviewed progress on joint transport, logistics, and investment projects, underlining their strategic importance in strengthening connectivity and economic integration. Additionally, they exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues, reaffirming their commitment to close cooperation.

The bilateral talks underscore the shared interest of Kazakhstan and Iran in advancing mutual economic and political goals, furthering regional stability and development.
