Geneva, December 5, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Swiss-Vietnam Economic Forum (SVEF) held a key meeting in Geneva on Wednesday to review its achievements in 2024 and chart a course for 2025, aiming to deepen the economic and cultural connections between Switzerland and Vietnam. The event attracted over 300 delegates from Switzerland, Vietnam, and countries across Europe and ASEAN, marking a significant milestone in the forum’s efforts to foster international collaboration.
SVEF has played an instrumental role in strengthening ties with local authorities, with notable visits from representatives of Cần Thơ, Vĩnh Long, and Cao Bằng provinces in Vietnam. These visits were focused on exploring investment opportunities. A particularly significant highlight was a workshop dedicated to Nam Định province, which included a recent visit by investors to the northern Vietnamese locality, underscoring SVEF’s growing influence in regional engagement.
Building on these achievements, the forum’s future agenda includes prominent events at the University of Zurich in June and in Vietnam’s central Đà Nẵng city in November. These gatherings will bring together leaders from government, business, and academia to discuss innovation, sustainable development, and shared growth. The forums will focus on key sectors such as technology, education, finance, and manufacturing, with several memoranda of understanding expected to be signed to promote investment and collaboration.
SVEF Chairman, Philip Rösler, emphasized that SVEF 2025 will not just be an event, but a catalyst for innovation, collaboration, and shared prosperity. His vision for the forum is to expand its impact, creating new opportunities not only between Switzerland and Vietnam but also within the broader ASEAN region.
SVEF Vice Chairman Nguyễn Hồ Nam highlighted Vietnam’s rapid economic growth and strategic location as key advantages for international businesses. He noted that sectors such as technology, green growth, and education align perfectly with Vietnam’s priorities, and that Swiss businesses can greatly benefit from the forum’s initiatives in these areas.
Ivo Sieber, SVEF Vice Chairman, emphasized the synergy between Switzerland’s strengths in innovation and sustainable development and Vietnam’s dynamic growth. He believes SVEF 2025 will provide a unique platform for Swiss stakeholders to engage with Vietnam’s economy and access other rapidly growing markets in ASEAN.
With a focus on sustainability, digital transformation, and workforce development, SVEF 2025 is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping future collaborations between Switzerland, Vietnam, and ASEAN nations.
