Tashkent, December 5, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, held a meeting with the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, Terhi Hakala, to discuss enhancing relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
During the discussions, both sides noted the stable positive dynamics in Uzbekistan-EU relations, emphasizing that the partnership is advancing to a new level.
The meeting focused on key areas of collaboration, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, the protection of human rights, security, environmental protection, and the promotion of gender equality. Special emphasis was placed on empowering women through regional initiatives, particularly within the framework of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia.
The importance of the Asian Women’s Forum as an international platform for exchanging experiences and promoting gender equality across the region was highlighted. Both sides underscored the significance of regional cooperation between Central Asian states and the European Union to foster stability and sustainable development.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain active dialogue and collaboratively implement planned activities aimed at deepening the partnership between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
