Uzbekistan Embassy in Pakistan Hosts Roundtable on Constitution Day

Islamabad, December 9, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan commemorated the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan with a roundtable discussion attended by compatriots residing in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding regions. Citizens from Karachi and Lahore participated via videoconferencing.

The event began with a solemn performance of the National Anthem of Uzbekistan. Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev welcomed attendees and extended his heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Constitution Day.

In his address, Ambassador Tukhtayev highlighted the Constitution’s foundational role in the country’s governance, its significance in upholding citizens’ rights and freedoms, and its contribution to Uzbekistan’s ongoing development. He underscored recent amendments to the Constitution, which incorporate new socially focused norms and principles aimed at advancing economic and social reforms.

“The reforms and measures implemented in Uzbekistan are designed to enhance the well-being of our people in alignment with the principles of our Constitution. For instance, the initiatives aimed at improving the rights and status of women demonstrate our commitment to translating constitutional principles into action,” the Ambassador stated.

The roundtable also featured a detailed presentation on the recent amendments to the Constitution of Uzbekistan, emphasizing their role in fostering inclusive development and social progress.

The event served as a platform to strengthen the sense of community among Uzbek nationals in Pakistan and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s commitment to constitutional values as a cornerstone of its state and societal development.
