Khromtau, December 10, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid a visit to the Khromtau Mining and Technical College, the sole institution supplying skilled manpower to the mining industry in western Kazakhstan since its establishment in 1979, according to Akorda’s press service.
The college currently educates 1,157 students specializing in various mining-related professions, including miners, shaft men, ore dressing specialists, mining electricians, and wiremen.
During the visit, College Director Bagdasgzhan Muldasheva briefed the President on the advanced technologies integrated into the educational process, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to producing skilled professionals for the mining sector.
President Tokayev engaged with students and alumni, highlighting the pivotal role of the mining industry in Kazakhstan’s economic growth. He underscored the importance of the dual learning system implemented at the college, which combines theoretical education with hands-on industry experience.
“The mining sector is a cornerstone of our national economy. Declaring 2025 as the Year of Working Professions will further bolster the development of the domestic mining industry,” stated the President.
The visit to the college was part of President Tokayev’s broader tour of the Aktobe region. Earlier, he visited the Bolashak mine, which has an annual production capacity of 7.5 million tons of chromitite, reflecting the region’s significance in the country’s resource-based economy.
