H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Attends Nordic Lights: An Evening of Finnish Music

Ras Al Khaimah, December 14, 2024 – The Europe Today: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, attended the Nordic Lights: An Evening of Finnish Music at the Ras Al Khaimah Cultural Development Centre. The event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud, was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Finland in the UAE and celebrated cultural exchange through music.

Speaking at the event, H.H. Sheikh Saud highlighted the importance of cultural understanding in fostering civilisational communication, mutual respect, and global harmony. He remarked, “Understanding the cultures of different peoples contributes to enhancing civilisational communication, mutual understanding, and respect. It deepens relationships, fosters a culture of innovation and creativity, and forms an essential part of human and societal development.”

H.H. Sheikh Saud praised the performances of the participating artists, including renowned Finnish cellist Jussi Makkonen and pianist Nazig Azezian, alongside the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Riad Kudsi. The event showcased the UAE premiere of Nordic Adagio, a composition by Tuomas Kantelinen, performed by Makkonen and Azezian in their first collaboration with the orchestra.

The evening celebrated the unifying power of music and underscored the strong cultural ties between the UAE and Finland. The programme demonstrated the importance of international collaboration in fostering creativity, innovation, and shared cultural appreciation.
